To Hale Family, thank you so much for providing Lisa with a wonderful family and home,
Gunbils... |
| Izzet, Things are going very well (see
attached pictures). Zina (new spelling) is enjoying her new
home. She gets 3-4 walks per day and exercise, She's now
caught up on all her shots (the Vet was impressed how easy
she was to work with). We no longer keep her in the crate.
Although we have offered to let her sleep anywhere in the
house, including the upstairs bedroom, she prefers to sleep
on the first floor in front of the door. During the day she
hangs out in whatever room Alex is in but only comes
upstairs occasionally (she's not really fond of stairs
although she is learning to negotiate them better every
day). When she wants a quiet place to rest she goes in our
small office/den and sleeps in the corner; it's her favorite
room perhaps because it is the coziest and we both spend
more time there than anywhere else. So, she has adjusted
very well, very quickly. She's perfectly fine with people
but shows some aggression toward some dogs. We start
training on Thursday with a private lesson, then seven
weekly group lessons after that. I'll give you a progress
report.
Thanks again for introducing Zina to us. I think it was a
perfect match.

On Monday I went back to work and Zena moved
from her guardpost downstairs to the bedroom to stay next to
Alex. Wherever Alex goes Zena is only a few feet away. Even
when Alex blow-dries her hair Zena is only a few feet away
and actually falls asleep which astounds me because I
believe that noise would wake the dead. When I come back
home from work Zena gets to relax again although she is
always in the same room e are in. This evening we went out
for a few hours and she dutifully slept by the door until we
came home. We are still amazed at how this dog could go from
life in a kennel to adopting us as her family (or pack) so
quickly.
